International NGO ANA promotes grassroots diplomacy for peace in somaliland
International NGO ANA is strengthening its peacebuilding efforts in Somaliland through dialogue and closer engagement with local actors.
The organization’s Secretary-General, Mr. Bekki Benameur, recently paid a working visit to Somaliland as part of ANA’s activities in the Horn of Africa.
During the visit, Benameur, accompanied by ANA’s local representative, held a series of discussions with community representatives and other local stakeholders. The meetings focused on understanding the situation on the ground and identifying ways to support peaceful solutions to regional challenges.
ANA’s approach places dialogue, mediation and prevention at the center of its peacebuilding activities. The organization seeks to create spaces where differences can be discussed peacefully and where local initiatives can help strengthen trust within communities.
The NGO is also promoting an approach that gives greater importance to African mechanisms for resolving conflicts. By developing stronger links with local actors, ANA aims to encourage consensus and help prevent tensions from affecting social cohesion.
The Somaliland mission reflects the organization’s broader focus on grassroots diplomacy. Rather than relying only on formal diplomatic channels, ANA seeks to work directly with communities and local stakeholders to better understand their concerns.
This approach is intended to strengthen communication between different groups and create conditions for long-term cooperation.
ANA’s presence in Somaliland therefore forms part of its wider peacebuilding strategy across the Horn of Africa and other areas where it operates.
Through dialogue, mediation and local engagement, the organization aims to support initiatives that promote peaceful coexistence and contribute to lasting stability.
