Burkina-Faso: Fight against terrorism/Remobilisation of the GUMI for the decisive assault

The Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, is touring army garrisons to galvanise, congratulate, encourage and instruct his brothers-in-arms who are engaged in the final assault on terrorist groups. After talks with the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces visited the stronghold of the National Police’s Mobile Intervention Units (GUMI) in training.

Here too, the message was the same. Burkina-Faso will not back down until it has achieved total victory.

The growing strength of the fighting forces in recent months in the fight against terrorism bears witness to the intensification of the struggle.

In one year of transition, 10 GUMIs have been deployed. The GUMIs are doing a remarkable job on the ground in reclaiming the national territory.

Today in Burkina Faso, the time has come to remobilise the troops to complete what was started a year ago by Captain Ibrahim Traoré on his arrival at the head of Burkina-Faso.

And the President of the transition’s visit to the field alongside the various troops engaged in the fight to liberate the country reflects his determination and clear desire to support the fighting forces in their sacrifice for the motherland.
