Adebayo’s 83-point masterpiece rewrites NBA history

Bam Adebayo delivered one of the most astonishing scoring performances in NBA history, pouring in 83 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 150-129 victory over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.

The 28-year-old center’s explosion stands as the second-highest single-game total ever, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s legendary 100-point game from 1962. Adebayo passed Kobe Bryant’s iconic 81-point outing from 2006, a moment he described as surreal.

“Wilt, me, then Kobe. It sounds crazy,” Adebayo said afterward, still processing his historic achievement. “I really got emotional. I wish I could relive it twice.”

Adebayo, known primarily for his defensive prowess rather than scoring, attempted 43 free throws and made 36—both NBA records. The three-time All-Star had never averaged more than 20 points per game in any season.

In other action, Luka Doncic recorded 31 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-106, moving into a tie for fourth in the Western Conference.

The Detroit Pistons cruised past the Brooklyn Nets 138-100, improving to an Eastern Conference-best 46-18.
