Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina produced a heroic performance to knock host nation Morocco out of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, securing a 3-1 penalty shootout victory after a goalless 120 minutes in Rabat.
The 22-year-old shot-stopper was the undisputed star of the semifinal, first denying Fatima Tagnaout from the spot in the 118th minute to keep the score level. She then saved three more penalties in the shootout, frustrating Kenza Chapelle, Maryame Atiq, and Sakina Ouzraoui, leaving the Moulay Hassan Stadium in stunned silence.
Defender Maryam Nyadjou held her nerve to convert the decisive penalty, sending the Indomitable Lions through to Sunday’s final against Malawi.
South Africa booked their place earlier Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over Algeria, setting up a final clash where Cameroon will seek their second continental crown.
