Gervinho Dreams of AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast: “You would Have seen the best Gervinho you’ve Ever Known”

At 36 years old, without a club but with dreams aplenty, Yao Kouassi Gervais also known as Gervinho, aspires to grace the fields of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with the Ivory Coast Elephants.

In a passionate statement, the former 2015 African champion declares, «I am fit and physically in shape because I am working under the supervision of a fitness trainer, training hard. But if I am not selected, I will have no regrets, I will understand. I would have returned to the national team if I had been with a club. I know what I am capable of. I have always given my best in the national team. With the Elephants, it’s a fantastic love story. I have always performed in the national team, people know it. And if I had returned, I would have torn everything apart. You would have seen the best Gervinho you have known» (source: AfrikFoot).

From stadiums to road and hotel infrastructure, the event is poised to be one of the most prestigious competitions in the history of African football.

Even in the absence of a club since his departure from Aris Salonique in Greece, Gervinho remains determined to be an integral part of the team led by Jean-Louis Gasset.

His desire to shine again in the colors of the Elephants speaks to the unwavering love he holds for the national selection.

The Ivorian veteran believes in his abilities and promises an outstanding performance if given the chance to represent his country in this renowned continental tournament.

Gervinho’s saga, clubless but with boundless ambition, adds a captivating dimension to the approaching AFCON 2023.
