Togo: Peace and security in the sub-region, Faure Gnassingbé’s leadership put to the test by a disinformation campaign

In recent times, Togo has been facing a disinformation campaign orchestrated by accomplices and sponsors of terrorists, aimed at questioning the commitment of Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé to stability and security in the sub-region, particularly in the Sahel. It all began after the Togolese government sealed its northern border to counter terrorists who had been tracked and neutralized in Burkina Faso and were seeking new bases.

Faced with setbacks, the sponsors of terrorists have enlisted journalists and activists to spread false information, alleging that the Togolese government has deployed mercenaries to its border with Burkina Faso with the intention of destabilizing the region.

This disinformation campaign seeks to discredit the Togolese Head of State, who spares no effort in ensuring stability and peace in the Sahel states and the well-being of their people.

Togo is paying the price for its solidarity with its brotherly countries in the Sahel, its position regarding Niger, and its unwavering commitment to preserving sub-regional peace.

However, these false allegations have no impact on Faure Gnassingbé’s leadership in his determination to ensure security in his country and the wider region.

As for the countries in the Alliance of the Sahel States (AES), there is no doubt – Togo is a reliable brotherly nation and partner firmly committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens and promoting peace in the sub-region at large, with a specific focus on the Sahel.
