Celtics make history with 140-88 rout of Warriors, extending streak to 11 Games

The Boston Celtics showcased their dominance once again, delivering a crushing 140-88 defeat to the Golden State Warriors and extending their remarkable winning streak to 11 consecutive games.

Celebrating his 26th birthday, Jayson Tatum led the charge for the Celtics with an impressive 27-point performance, while Jaylen Brown added 29 points to the scoreboard.

The victory not only solidified the Celtics’ position at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 48-12 record but also etched their name in NBA history. They became the first franchise ever to secure three wins by a margin of 50 or more points in a single season.

Tatum, relishing his birthday success, remarked, «It’s up there. Great birthday. Got to do what I love in front of the best fans in the world and get a win».

The Celtics dominated from the outset, establishing an 82-38 lead at halftime. With both teams opting to rest key players in the second half, the Warriors had no answer to Boston’s prowess.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr acknowledged the Celtics’ exceptional performance, conceding, «Boston were amazing, we weren’t beating them today. They were fantastic. This was a really impressive performance by them at both ends. »

In other NBA matchups, the San Antonio Spurs secured a 117-105 victory over the Indiana Pacers, propelled by Victor Wembanyama’s stellar display of 31 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, six blocked shots, and a steal.

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder, leading the Western Conference with a 42-18 record, triumphed over the Phoenix Suns with a 118-110 scoreline. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played a pivotal role with 35 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, and three steals for the Thunder.
