Mali: Colonel Assimi Goïta launches third solar power plant in partnership with the United Arab Emirates

President Assimi Goïta of the Transition, the Head of State, recently inaugurated the construction of Mali’s third solar power plant in Tiakadougou-Dialakoro, near Selingué.

With a peak capacity of 100 MW, this new solar power plant adds to the existing ones in Sanankoroba and Safo, signifying a substantial advancement in renewable energy for Mali.

During the ceremony, the mayor of Tiakadougou commune, Karim Keïta, expressed gratitude to the Transition President for the development initiatives in their community.

He noted that it was the first time a head of state had visited their region for a project of this scale.

This solar power plant will not only enhance Mali’s energy capacity but also support more sustainable economic growth by reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

This project, a result of a mutually beneficial partnership with the United Arab Emirates, aligns with the transitional authorities’ ongoing efforts to promote sustainable energy solutions.

Joined by the Prime Minister, the President of the National Transition Council, the Minister of State, the Minister of Energy and Water, and several other government officials, President Goïta marked this significant event with his presence.

The ceremony also brought together institution presidents, ambassadors, other partners, and Mali’s governors.

This solar power plant  showcases the Malian government’s commitment to investing in modern and eco-friendly infrastructure while strengthening international relations with strategic partners like the United Arab Emirates.
