Copa America 2024: Brazil dominates Paraguay 4-1 to revive campaign

The Copa America 2024 continues with group stage matches, and in Group D, Brazil made a strong comeback by defeating Paraguay 4-1 this Saturday.

Both teams faced off at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with Brazil needing a win after a draw against Costa Rica, and Paraguay under pressure following a loss to Colombia.

Brazil took 35 minutes to break the deadlock, with Vinícius Júnior scoring the opener after a skillful play to bypass the Paraguayan goalkeeper.

Shortly before halftime, Savinho capitalized on a rebound to double Brazil’s lead. Vinícius Júnior struck again, securing a 3-0 advantage for the Seleção at the break.

Paraguay briefly threatened a comeback when Omar Alderete scored a stunning goal early in the second half.

However, Brazil quickly reasserted their dominance, with Lucas Paquetá redeeming a missed penalty from the first half by netting Brazil’s fourth goal.

Paraguay’s situation worsened with a red card for Cubas in the 81st minute, sealing their fate.

With this victory, Brazil now stands second in Group D with four points, trailing behind Colombia, who lead with six points.

The decisive clash for the top spot in the group is set for next Wednesday at 2:00 AM.
