Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism: Grateful local people step up gestures of support

The conscious, awakened, and patriotic Burkinabe people recognize the remarkable work their uniformed brothers are doing on the battlefield to secure and liberate their country from the hands of enemies.

 

As a result, they are multiplying acts of solidarity toward these fighters.

 

Take, for example, the population of Solenzo, a town located in the Banwa province of the Boucle du Mouhoun region.

 

In less than a month, this community has mobilized twice to support and encourage their fellow citizens who have voluntarily taken up arms for the defense of the nation, the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland) of the commune.

 

Their most recent act of generosity, valued at 1,482,500 FCFA, included food supplies for the VDP.

 

Specifically, the donation consisted of 6 sacks of 100 kg of beans, 25 sacks of 50 kg of rice, 10 cans of 20 liters of oil, 25 boxes of spaghetti, and 60,000 FCFA for the purchase of condiments.

 

On July 9, 2024, this community provided raincoats and walkie-talkie devices to the VDP in Solenzo to help them fight terrorists more effectively in Solenzo and the Banwa province at large.

 

Additionally, on May 29, the VDP received 30 motorcycles, ammunition, and walkie-talkie devices from the population.

 

Furthermore, in February 2024, the VDP received food supplies worth nearly 500,000 FCFA.

 

On December 31, 2023, the same community raised over 3 million francs for the FDS (Defense and Security Forces) and the VDP.

 

These commendable and encouraging actions serve to galvanize and motivate the fighters.
