General Abdourahamane Tiani’s determination in Niger’s fight against terrorism

Just as at the onset of Niger’s revolution with the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), the transitional president and head of state, General Abdourahamane Tiani, remains committed and determined to fiercely combat armed terrorist groups in Niger and the Sahel.

In his address to the nation marking the first anniversary of the CNSP’s rise to power following the ousting of former President Mohamed Bazoum, General Tiani reaffirmed his unwavering vision for addressing security challenges.

His strategy focuses on enhancing the operational capacity of the Nigerien Armed Forces (FAN) and fostering collaboration within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

Despite significant progress made in this direction, General Tiani aims to push further to ensure the safety and peace of his compatriots.

He emphasized the need for Niger’s defense and security forces to further strengthen their capabilities to effectively combat the terrorist threat that has plagued the country for over a decade.

In his message to the nation, General Tiani assured that all relevant authorities are firmly committed to continuing the enhancement of the armed forces’ capacities.

The state will persist in acquiring the necessary resources to match the level of threat faced.

Since the CNSP took charge of Niger and foreign troops exited the country, significant advances have been made in the fight against terrorism.

There is a marked difference between the past situation and the current one, as attested by the Nigerien people themselves.

Unwavering support from the population for the authorities and their initiatives is crucial for achieving the objectives set in all identified priority areas.
