CAF launches investigation into Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba for alleged internal regulation violations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Thursday the opening of an investigation into its Secretary General, Véron Mosengo-Omba, following accusations of violations of the organization’s internal regulations.

The investigation will be conducted by a highly respected international law firm or a renowned audit and professional services firm.

This decision reflects CAF President Patrice Motsepe’s stance of zero tolerance towards corruption and governance breaches.

“CAF does not tolerate any corruption or any breaches of CAF’s internal governance, audit, and transparency rules, nor any violations of CAF and FIFA statutes and regulations,” stated Motsepe.

The CAF Executive Committee will review the findings and recommendations from the Audit and Governance Committee and will take immediate appropriate action if any misconduct is identified.

Véron Mosengo-Omba has responded by calling the accusations a “sabotage attempt.”

He described the report that led to these accusations as lacking documented evidence and expressed confidence that the independent investigation will reveal its falseness and origin.

The investigation aims to strengthen transparency and governance within CAF, as the organization continues to face challenges in management and integrity.

The situation remains developing and closely watched.
