Thiago Alcantara departs FC Barcelona coaching Staff after just one month

Thiago Alcantara’s coaching role at FC Barcelona has come to an unexpected and swift conclusion. Just one month after his appointment as an assistant coach to Hansi Flick, the former Barça midfielder has parted ways with the club.

 

The news, confirmed by the Catalan club in an official statement, marks a surprising turn in what was expected to be a significant post-playing career move for Alcantara.

 

After officially joining the coaching staff in early July, Alcantara remained with the team only through the pre-season. His departure leaves a gap on Flick’s technical team, which will now be filled by Arnau Blanco, a former youth coach at Barcelona.

 

This sudden change raises questions about the direction and stability within the club’s coaching setup, especially with the new season fast approaching.

 

Despite high expectations for Alcantara’s contribution off the field, his brief tenure suggests that the transition from player to coach is not always a seamless one, even for those with deep ties to the club.
