Burkina Faso/Attack in Barsalogho: Time to strengthen patriotic ties against common enemies

In the wake of the tragic massacre in the Barsalogho commune, where Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) were attacked alongside local civilians, there is a growing call for strengthened unity and increased solidarity among the Burkinabe people.

These calls emphasize the need to honor the fallen and defend the nation more effectively against ongoing threats.

The attack, which occurred last Saturday, targeted both the residents of Barsalogho and the combatants engaged in community work.

This brutal assault by armed groups resulted in significant loss of life and numerous injuries.

In response, the government swiftly visited the site to express its solidarity and compassion, particularly to those who were evacuated to Kaya University Hospital (CHU) for treatment.

The government also extended support to the entire Barsalogho community, recognizing the importance of national unity in these challenging times.

For many, including government officials and concerned citizens, the message is clear: now is the time for all peace-loving and security-conscious Burkinabe to stand firmly united behind the fighters, to thwart the malicious intentions of these terrorist groups whose sole aim is to destabilize and weaken Burkina Faso.

This attack, identified as a terrorist act, is believed to have been orchestrated by enemies of peace—individuals and groups working in the shadows to undermine the country’s anti-terrorism efforts and its quest for liberation.

These criminals, allegedly in collusion with stateless individuals, local collaborators, and external forces, continue to pose a grave threat to the Burkinabe people.

Sources indicate that other insidious plans are being prepared, targeting strategic areas across the country in an attempt to incite the population against their leaders.

In light of these threats, the Burkinabe are urged to remain vigilant, to foster unity and solidarity, and to steadfastly support the fighting forces in their crucial battle against these adversaries.
