Liverpool dominates Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford to maintain perfect start

Liverpool delivered a masterclass at Old Trafford, defeating Manchester United 3-0 in a one-sided Premier League showdown, underscoring their dominance and flawless start to the season. The Reds, under the guidance of manager Arne Slot, controlled the game from the first whistle, exposing Manchester United’s frailties and leaving Erik ten Hag’s side in disarray.

The match began with Liverpool immediately asserting their superiority. Trent Alexander-Arnold thought he had given Liverpool an early lead just five minutes in, but his goal was disallowed by VAR for offside.

Undeterred, Liverpool maintained their pressure, and it wasn’t long before they broke the deadlock. At the 35-minute mark, a critical error from Casemiro in midfield gifted Mohamed Salah the ball, who then delivered a precise cross to Luis Diaz.

The Colombian forward made no mistake, heading the ball past André Onana to put the visitors in front.

The nightmare for Manchester United didn’t end there. Just seven minutes later, another blunder by Casemiro in almost identical circumstances allowed Salah to once again exploit United’s defense.

The Egyptian forward’s pinpoint pass found Diaz, who calmly slotted the ball home for his second goal, giving Liverpool a commanding 2-0 lead just before halftime.

The second half saw more of the same, with Manchester United unable to mount any meaningful response.

Liverpool’s relentless pressure paid off once more in the 56th minute when Salah, now in full stride, unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that left Onana with no chance, extending Liverpool’s lead to 3-0.

Despite dominating possession in the closing stages, Manchester United failed to threaten Liverpool’s goal, highlighting their lack of creativity and cohesion.

The final whistle confirmed a resounding 3-0 victory for Liverpool, who continue their perfect start to the season with three wins from three matches.

For Manchester United, this defeat marks their second in three games, leaving them languishing in 14th place on the table.

The result intensifies the pressure on Ten Hag, who must quickly find solutions to halt the club’s alarming early-season slide. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s emphatic win reinforces their status as serious title contenders, with the team firing on all cylinders as the season progresses.
