Premier League Match day 3: Chelsea held to draw by Crystal Palace, Newcastle outlasts Tottenham

The third weekend of Premier League action featured two intriguing early matches. Chelsea faced off against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge, while Tottenham traveled to Goodison Park to take on Newcastle.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea seemed to be in control early on, taking the lead in the 25th minute. Nicolas Jackson capitalized on a well-timed assist from Cole Palmer to put the Blues ahead.

However, Crystal Palace fought back after the break, with Eberechi Eze equalizing in the 53rd minute.

Despite both teams searching for a decisive goal, the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

This result leaves Chelsea with one win, one draw, and one loss after three matches, while Crystal Palace earned their first point of the season following two opening losses.

Meanwhile, at Goodison Park, Newcastle battled Tottenham in a hard-fought contest. Newcastle opened the scoring in the 38th minute through Harvey Barnes.

Tottenham found their way back into the game in the 57th minute when an own goal by Newcastle defender Dan Burn leveled the score.

However, Newcastle regained the lead in the 78th minute when Alexander Isak fired home a low left-footed strike, securing a 2-1 victory for the Magpies.

This win maintains Newcastle’s unbeaten streak, moving them up to fourth in the table, just two points behind Manchester City.

Tottenham, having started the season with a win and a draw, suffered their first defeat of the campaign.
