Burkina Faso: RTB broadcasts first evidence of attempted destabilisation

On Sunday evening, Burkina Faso’s national broadcaster RTB (Broadcast Television of Burkina Faso), aired what it claimed to be the first pieces of evidence regarding the destabilization plot announced by the country’s authorities the previous week.

The broadcast featured a video showing confessions from Ahmad Kinda, a former commander of the Burkinabe Special Forces, along with two other implicated individuals.

In the footage, Commander Ahmad Kinda admitted to leading an operation aimed at undermining the current government of Burkina Faso.

Once a highly respected figure within the nation’s military, Kinda confirmed his central role in the conspiracy, corroborating the suspicions held by the authorities about an internal threat to the state.

This disclosure comes at a time of heightened tension, as the government, led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, grapples with numerous security and political challenges, particularly in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

The exposure of an internal conspiracy involving military personnel adds another layer of complexity to the country’s already precarious security situation.

By publicly airing these confessions, the government aims to solidify the credibility of its claims and accusations.

Making this information available to the public serves to garner greater support and demonstrate the administration’s resolve to defend the nation against any destabilization attempts, whether from internal or external forces.
