Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré expected in Ghana, a further step towards strengthening bilateral ties

On Tuesday, January 7, the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, will attend the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama as President of the Republic of Ghana, following his victory in the December 7, 2024, elections.

 

The ceremony, which will bring together several African heads of state, underscores Burkina Faso’s growing strategic role in the region and highlights the shared commitment of both nations to strengthening their ties.

 

During his visit, President Ibrahim Traoré will also engage with the Burkinabe diaspora in Ghana, a community of over three million members.

 

This meeting reflects his dedication to staying connected with and supporting Burkinabe citizens living abroad.

 

The relationship between Burkina Faso and Ghana is rooted in geographical proximity and a longstanding friendship.

 

Both nations are actively working to enhance cooperation through ongoing initiatives in economic, cultural, and security sectors.

 

This visit not only reaffirms their shared vision for mutual progress but also represents another step toward fostering deeper and more harmonious collaboration.
