Diplomacy/ Cooperation: Burkina Faso and Egypt strengthen bilateral ties and Expand Cooperation

The governments of Burkina Faso and Egypt have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding their cooperation into new sectors for the mutual benefit of both nations.

This shared ambition was highlighted during a meeting between Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean-Emmanuel Ouédraogo, and Egypt’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Sherif A. K. Nada.

During discussions at the Prime Minister’s office, Ambassador Nada emphasized the importance of enhancing trade partnerships between the two countries.

“There are significant opportunities to explore, particularly in the commercial sector. Expanding market access will facilitate trade and benefit our populations,” he stated.

 

Boosting trade and economic opportunities

Currently, trade exchanges between Burkina Faso and Egypt remain limited. Recognizing this, both governments are keen on revitalizing the sector to create business opportunities for private sector players in both countries.

Expanding exports to meet consumer needs on both sides will be a key focus.

While economic ties are still developing, Burkina Faso and Egypt already collaborate in several critical areas, including security and digital technology.

Strengthening security cooperation

In the fight against terrorism, Egypt has reiterated its unwavering support for Burkina Faso in its efforts to restore peace and security.

This commitment underscores the solidarity between the two nations as they navigate regional security challenges together.

Observers note that the meeting between Prime Minister Ouédraogo and Ambassador Nada marks a significant step toward deepening relations between Ouagadougou and Cairo.

It sets the stage for a new phase of cooperation, promising mutual benefits for both nations and their citizens.
