Benghazi Stadium reopens with star-studded ceremony

The newly renovated Benghazi Stadium officially reopened on Thursday, February 20, 2025, marking a historic moment for Libyan sports. The grand ceremony attracted a host of football legends, including Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos, John Terry, Dimitar Berbatov, and Michael Owen, who gathered to celebrate the stadium’s revival.

 

Once a symbol of resilience, the stadium has been transformed into a state-of-the-art facility with a seating capacity of 41,000.

 

 The upgrades include 104 accessible seats for individuals with disabilities, 1,060 premium VIP spots, and 420 dedicated media seats, ensuring a world-class experience for all attendees.

 

The event not only highlighted the stadium’s modern amenities but also underscored Libya’s commitment to rebuilding its infrastructure and reigniting its passion for football.
