Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré promotes local processing to create wealth and jobs

The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, wants Burkina Faso to process its raw materials locally to create wealth and jobs. Thanks to this vision, more and more private investors are getting involved in industrialising the country with the support of the government.
One concrete example is the inauguration of a new flour mill, Moulin Double Star (M2S), located in Gampéla, near Ouagadougou.
The mill, which specialises in wheat flour production, is the brainchild of a Burkinabe entrepreneur, El Hadj Souleymane Zidnaba. Formerly a flour importer, he decided to invest in local production to meet the country’s needs.
The government encouraged and supported him in his project, which required an investment of 15 billion CFA francs. The plant will produce 220 tonnes of flour and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
At the inauguration, President Ibrahim Traoré praised the initiative and called on other entrepreneurs to follow suit. He also invited Burkinabe living abroad to invest in their country and contribute to its development.
With this initiative, Burkina Faso is reducing its dependence on imports and strengthening its economy through the local processing of its resources.
