Nigerian Defense College Delegation visits Togo to study revenue mobilization strategies

A delegation from Nigeria’s National Defense College (NDC) recently concluded a study tour in Lomé, Togo, as part of a broader mission across six African countries. The visit focused on understanding the operational strategies of the Togolese Revenue Authority (OTR), particularly its innovative approaches to combating fraud and illicit trafficking.

The exchange highlighted the critical role of collaboration between security forces and tax administrations in enhancing revenue collection systems.

Established in 1992, the NDC is renowned for providing advanced strategic training to senior military and civilian leaders.

Its interest in Togo’s revenue management practices underscores the OTR’s growing reputation as a model for effective fiscal and customs administration.

Togo has set an ambitious target of collecting 1,208 billion CFA francs in 2024, reflecting its commitment to strengthening economic resilience.

This visit underscores a growing trend of knowledge-sharing among African nations seeking to optimize public finances and foster sustainable development.

Togo’s success in revenue mobilization serves as an inspiring example for Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of efficient tax administration in driving socio-economic progress.

Such exchanges reinforce the value of regional cooperation in addressing shared challenges and achieving long-term growth.
