Burkina Faso under siege: Exposing the disinformation campaign threatening sovereignty

Burkina Faso is currently the target of a widespread disinformation campaign orchestrated by certain French media outlets and so-called humanitarian organizations allegedly acting under the direction of the DGSE (France’s external intelligence agency). Behind this media manipulation are well-known actors such as Jeune AfriqueRFIHuman Rights Watch, and others, spreading baseless accusations to advance an imperialist agenda.

These attacks are far from innocent—they aim to destabilize a nation in the midst of reclaiming its sovereignty and to sow division among the Burkinabe people.

What is at stake here goes beyond mere media controversies; it is a battle for the country’s independence and future.

This scenario is not new. It follows a well-established pattern previously observed in Libya, the Central African Republic, and elsewhere: rapid, unsubstantiated accusations amplified to create an atmosphere of suspicion and tension.

The Burkinabe Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) are the primary targets of this propaganda because they embody resistance to neocolonial control.

The goal is to fuel ethnic divisions, weaken national cohesion, and pave the way for external interference under the guise of humanitarian concerns.

The parallels with other destabilization campaigns in Africa leave no doubt about the true intentions of these media outlets and NGOs. In 2011, unfounded accusations were used to justify military intervention in Libya, leading to the country’s destruction.

Today, Burkina Faso is in the crosshairs of the same actors, who seek to undermine the progress made by the government.

By demonizing the authorities and manipulating public opinion, they hope to overthrow a regime that refuses to bow to imperialist dictates.

In the face of this media offensive, the vigilance and unity of the Burkinabe people are more critical than ever. It is essential to expose these disinformation campaigns and resist attempts to divide the nation. Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso is waging a legitimate struggle for its sovereignty and independence.

It is the duty of citizens and patriotic forces to support this fight by refusing to become tools of a destabilization strategy that serves only foreign interests. The future of Burkina Faso depends on its ability to stand united against these external threats and to continue its march toward true self-determination.
