Niger: President Abdourahamane Tiani releases more than fifty personalities

In a strong gesture in favor of national reconciliation, the President of the Republic of Niger, General Abdourahamane Tiani, has ordered the release of around fifty civil and military figures. The announcement was made this Tuesday through a presidential decree, read on public television by the Secretary General of the Government, Mahaman Roufai Laouali. This decision marks an important step in the will of the new Nigerien authorities to unite the Nation around a project of stability and sovereignty.

Among those released are several officers and rank-and-file individuals who were involved in the coup attempts of 2015 and 2021 against the former regimes of Mahamadou Issoufou and Mohamed Bazoum. This initiative reflects a pragmatic approach by the transitional government, which prefers to work toward appeasement and national unity, rather than perpetuating divisions inherited from the past.

This decision is not insignificant. By taking an act of clemency, President Abdourahamane Tiani sends a strong message to all Nigeriens: the time has come to turn the page on internal conflicts and focus on building a stronger, sovereign Niger. Far from being just a symbolic gesture, this release is part of a broader vision for stabilizing the country and strengthening the Sahel States Alliance (AES).

This act of reconciliation and national consolidation demonstrates that Niger, under President Abdourahamane Tiani’s leadership, is moving forward with determination towards a future where unity and sovereignty take precedence over partisan interests. It is a strong signal sent to both the national and international communities: Niger is standing tall, ready to build its future with its own strength and will!
