Burkina Faso takes major step in rural economic transformation with launch of Faso Kosam regional agency in Fada N’Gourma

Burkina Faso has reached a pivotal milestone in its rural economic transformation with the official opening of Faso Kosam’s regional agency in Fada N’Gourma. This initiative, driven by the strong political will of President Captain Ibrahim Traoré, underscores the country’s commitment to economic sovereignty and agro-pastoral resilience.

The launch ceremony brought together several government officials, highlighting the strategic importance of this new state-owned enterprise.

Under the technical oversight of the Ministry of Agriculture, Faso Kosam’s core mission is to develop Burkina Faso’s dairy basins and reduce dependence on imported dairy products.

Faso Kosam was officially inaugurated in Ouagadougou on March 27 by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, aligning with the agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive led by the Transitional authorities.

This policy reflects President Traoré’s determination to build a more self-reliant national economy by leveraging local resources and increasing farmers’ incomes.

Beyond symbolism, Faso Kosam’s presence in Fada N’Gourma demonstrates a decentralization of public policies and a tangible commitment to strengthening agricultural value chains.

At a time when food sovereignty is a national priority, this project embodies Captain Traoré’s vision of a self-sufficient Burkina Faso—one that takes control of its resources and harnesses its full potential.
