President Traoré receives Pan-African delegation After Sankara Mausoleum inauguration

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, met on Monday with a delegation of Pan-Africanists who attended the inauguration of the Thomas Sankara Mausoleum, honoring the revolutionary leader and his twelve companions.

The delegation included intellectuals, cultural figures, scientists, and opinion leaders from South Africa, Ghana, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Chad, Niger, Mali, and Europe.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Professor Mamadou Koulibaly, former Ivorian minister and ex-speaker of parliament, praised President Traoré’s leadership, calling him a “standard-bearer for Africa’s youth and diaspora.”

He commended Burkina Faso’s efforts in memorializing Sankara through the mausoleum and an ambitious cultural heritage project.

Koulibaly also highlighted the symbolic significance of naming a street after Ghana’s late President Jerry Rawlings, reinforcing ties between past and present Pan-African struggles.

He urged Traoré to continue prioritizing national development and to align investments with the people’s needs, while encouraging collaboration with fellow leaders of the Sahel States Alliance (AES).

The delegation’s message was clear: Burkina Faso is not alone in its fight for sovereignty. “We will no longer remain indifferent to threats against Africa’s revolutionary aspirations,” Koulibaly declared, affirming unwavering support for Traoré’s vision.
