Football: Chelsea beat PSG 3-0 to win inaugural World Club Trophy amid post-match tensions

Chelsea stunned the football world by defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final of FIFA’s inaugural global club trophy. Despite being favorites heading into the match, the Parisians were completely outclassed in every area of the game. The Blues dominated from start to finish, with Cole Palmer scoring a decisive brace, sealing Chelsea’s place in history. The celebrations even included an appearance by U.S. President Donald Trump.

However, the night’s most talked-about moment came after the final whistle—when PSG coach Luis Enrique slapped Chelsea forward João Pedro in a tense scuffle. Speaking at a press conference, Enrique attempted to downplay the incident, claiming he had tried to separate players amid rising tensions. “Everyone was pushing. I tried to separate them. We should’ve prevented it from escalating,” he explained.

Footage from DAZN, however, revealed a different narrative, showing Enrique reacting emotionally after João Pedro allegedly confronted him. The Chelsea striker later gave his side of the story to Brazilian outlet Sportv, saying, “I went to protect Andrey Santos, who was being surrounded. In the chaos, I got pushed. But they just don’t know how to lose. Now it’s time to celebrate.”

The incident has sparked widespread media coverage, with critics pointing fingers at PSG’s unsportsmanlike behavior. While Chelsea revels in their historic 3-0 victory, the Parisians face a wave of scrutiny—not just for the result, but for their conduct off the pitch.
