Senegal: Ousmane Sonko declines invitation from France

Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has announced that he will not attend the BPI France Inno Génération event, scheduled for September 23, 2025, in Paris. This trip, which would have marked his first official visit abroad as head of government, was canceled due to what was described as an overly busy schedule.

Sonko will instead be represented by a member of his cabinet at this economic gathering, considered the largest business event in Europe.

However, a bilateral meeting with his French counterpart is still planned in the coming weeks in Dakar, on the occasion of an intergovernmental seminar.
