Football/ Barcelona delivers a 6-0 masterclass against Valencia
For their first home game of the season in La Liga, FC Barcelona treated their fans to a stunning performance, thrashing Valencia 6-0. Missing Lamine Yamal and with captain Raphinha benched for arriving late to training, Hansi Flick opted to start young Roony Bardhgji alongside Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford. The gamble paid off brilliantly.
After dominating the early stages without scoring, Barcelona finally broke the deadlock in the 29th minute. Ferran Torres set up Fermin, who calmly slotted the opener past Julen Agirrezabala. The Blaugrana went into halftime with only a slim lead but full control of the match.
The second half turned into a nightmare for Valencia. Raphinha came on after the break and wasted no time making an impact, doubling the lead in the 53rd minute. Fermin then grabbed his second goal just three minutes later, before Raphinha struck again with a spectacular volley in the 66th minute.
Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, brought on as a substitute, also joined the party. The Polish forward scored his 102nd goal in his 150th appearance for the club (76’), and later added another with a classy chipped finish (87’), sealing an emphatic 6-0 win.
With this victory, Barcelona closes the gap to two points behind league leaders Real Madrid, strengthening their title ambitions. Flick’s men now shift focus to Europe, as they prepare for a challenging trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle in the Champions League on Thursday.
Valencia, meanwhile, slump to 15th place after suffering their second defeat in four matches.
