Cameroon: Issa Tchiroma Bakary, the man who plays with the peace and tranquillity of an entire people

Cameroon is once again navigating a critical period in its political history. Since the proclamation of the results of the presidential election on October 12, an artificially sustained post-electoral crisis has shaken the country. At the origin of this instability is Issa Tchiroma Bakary, an unsuccessful candidate who appears to have chosen the path of confrontation over that of republican dialogue. His call for street protests has opened the door to alarming excesses, seriously threatening social peace and national unity.

The scenes of vandalism witnessed in recent days are unacceptable. Destroyed bank ATMs, looted businesses, and ransacked public buildings are acts of violence that recall dark chapters in African history, where personal ambitions have often overridden the collective interest.

In a global context marked by multiple economic and security crises, Cameroon cannot afford such internal fragility.

By stoking popular anger, Issa Tchiroma Bakary clearly demonstrates that he is not seeking the welfare of the people but the satisfaction of his own political frustrations.

His strategy of chaos aims to make the country ungovernable, hoping to create conditions for institutional collapse.

Such an irresponsible and dangerous approach can only benefit those lurking in the shadows, who wish to see Cameroon falter to better impose their imperialist agendas.

In the face of this situation, the call for civic responsibility is urgent. Cameroonians must understand that yielding to violence is a betrayal of peace, the very foundation of any lasting democracy. Political disagreements, however legitimate, must be expressed through dialogue and respect for republican institutions, not through destruction and hatred in the streets.

The time has come for every Cameroonian to exercise discernment and patriotism. The future of the country must not be sacrificed on the altar of one man’s misguided ambitions.

Preserving stability means protecting the dignity of Cameroon and its people. Let us reject manipulation, refuse violence, and stand firm for peace, for it is in serenity that a nation’s true victory is built.
