Mali: Official launch of the International Diaspora Forum 2025
Bamako – On Thursday, July 10, 2025, the Malian government officially launched the International Diaspora Forum (FID 2025) during a ceremony presided over by Mossa Ag Attaher, Minister of Malians Living Abroad and African Integration. Held at the Bamako International Conference Center, the event will take place from July 17 to 19 under the theme: “Challenges and Opportunities for a Diaspora at the Heart of National Economic Development.”
The forum aims to mobilize the Malian diaspora across the globe to contribute actively to the country’s development, particularly through investment, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer.
A Strategic Lever for Development
“The diaspora is a valuable and strategic resource for Mali, made up of men and women who innovate, invest, share knowledge, and maintain strong ties with their country of origin,” said Minister Mossa Ag Attaher. He also praised the support of numerous international partners and the private sector backing this inaugural edition.
The forum is intended as a platform for dialogue and exchange between institutions, entrepreneurs, experts, and young talents from the diaspora. The program will feature panels, workshops, exhibitions, business meetings, and project investment presentations.
Economic Stakeholders Lending Their Support
The Vice President of the Malian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIM) reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to provide logistical support and mobilize economic players for the forum’s various activities, including a partnership fair and trade exhibition. He emphasized that this initiative aligns with the strategic goals of the Transition, as outlined by President Assimi Goïta.
The Vice President of the National Employers’ Council and the National Emergency Coordinator also welcomed the initiative, calling it “commendable” and “timely” in a context where the country is relying on its internal resources to drive development.
Focus on Productive Investment and Knowledge Transfer
FID 2025 will spotlight productive investments, diaspora-led entrepreneurship, and skills transfer. The forum is aligned with the economic sovereignty and resilience ambitions set by the transitional authorities.
In conclusion, this forum is shaping up to be a key event linking Mali and its diaspora, reflecting a shared commitment to building a lasting partnership based on trust, a common vision, and concrete action.
