Congo-Brazzaville cracks down on notorious “Kuluna” gangs

The Congolese government has launched a determined offensive against the “Kulunas” violent youth gangs also known as “black babies” that threaten public security. During a recent government briefing, Communications Minister Thierry Lézin Moungalla reinforced the state’s firm stance, declaring, “We must prevent gangs from becoming stronger than the state.”

This security push, involving coordinated police operations, aims to restore order in affected neighborhoods and reassert state authority.

The government has coupled its on-the-ground actions with a clear communication strategy, led by Minister Moungalla, designed to build public understanding and support for the security measures.

The Minister also criticized international NGOs for what he described as an unbalanced approach, accusing them of condemning state actions while remaining silent on the “intolerable barbarity” and cruelty the gangs inflict upon citizens.

This robust response underscores Congo’s commitment to maintaining authority and protecting its population.

Through decisive action and strategic communication, the state is demonstrating its resolve to defend public order and peace.
