Alvaro Morata joins AC Milan from Atletico Madrid
Alvaro Morata has officially signed with AC Milan, ending his tenure with Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish striker, who spent three seasons with the Colchoneros, decided to leave despite being under contract until 2026, citing insufficient playing time as the main reason for his departure.
Morata, 31, returns to Serie A, having previously played for Juventus between 2014-2016 and 2020-2022.
He joins AC Milan on a four-year contract, with an additional year optional, to replace Olivier Giroud. The transfer fee is reported to be €13 million.
AC Milan announced the signing with a statement: “AC Milan is proud to announce the signing of Álvaro Borja Morata Martín from Club Atletico de Madrid. Captain of the Spanish national team, with which he recently won the European Championship, Morata has signed with the Rossoneri until June 30, 2028, with an option for an additional year.”
