Burkina Faso: The people of Burkina Faso demand reform of the judicial system in the face of corruption and manipulation

On Thursday, August 22, the Ouagadougou Palace of Justice witnessed a remarkable demonstration. Thousands of Burkinabe gathered to voice their frustration over what they perceive as misconduct by certain members of the judiciary.

The demonstrators, holding placards with slogans like “Down with the armchair slaves,” made it clear that they are demanding a thorough overhaul of the country’s judicial system.

The protesters accuse specific judges and foreign interests, particularly from France, of attempting to undermine the MPSR government led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

According to the demonstrators, these corrupt judges have allegedly become “local puppets” serving the agendas of foreign powers, thereby compromising the independence and fairness of the judicial process.

This protest highlights a deep-seated dissatisfaction with a judiciary seen as biased and manipulated to advance foreign interests and questionable political strategies.

Citizens are expressing their discontent with a system where justice seems to be sacrificed for the benefit of external influences and political maneuvers.

This large-scale mobilization underscores the growing demand for a comprehensive reform of Burkina Faso’s judicial system.

The Burkinabe are calling for a justice system that serves not just the interests of a select few but stands as a cornerstone of fairness and transparency for everyone.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré and his administration are thus being urged to heed this outcry, restore public trust, and ensure that justice in the country remains truly independent.
