Football: Real Madrid faces scrutiny over player withdrawals during International Break

Real Madrid is under fire for the sudden withdrawal of key players from their national teams during the ongoing international break, sparking concerns about the club’s handling of its stars. Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior, Eder Militao, and Andriy Lunin will all remain in Madrid, raising questions about whether these absences are due to genuine injuries or strategic decisions.

Mbappé at the Center of debate

The controversy started with Kylian Mbappé’s exclusion from the French squad for the UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium.

While officially out due to a thigh injury, Mbappé played 70 minutes for Real Madrid against Villarreal just days before, fueling speculation that his absence from France is more tactical than medical.

Brazilian tensions

In addition to Mbappé, Vinicius Junior and Eder Militao will also miss Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers. Vinicius is sidelined with a cervical injury, while Militao’s case has caused friction between Real Madrid and the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF).

Despite his injury, the CBF insisted Militao travel to Brazil for medical evaluation, leading to frustrations after his long journey to São Paulo ended with a quick return to Madrid for recovery.

Lunin and others

Andriy Lunin, suffering from a viral infection, will also remain in Madrid, while nine other Real Madrid players, including Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde, joined their national teams.

With multiple players opting out of international duty, some accuse Real Madrid of prioritizing its own interests, ensuring key players are rested and available for club fixtures. As the debate grows, the club’s actions continue to be scrutinized.
