Africa/AES: President Ibrahim Traoré denounces Macron’s contempt and reminds him of history

President Ibrahim Traoré strongly condemned recent remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday, January 13, describing them as not only offensive but also indicative of a deep-seated disdain for African peoples.

Taking a resolute stance, the Burkinabe leader dismissed Macron’s comments and highlighted the intertwined history of France and Africa. “Modern France owes much to the sacrifices and contributions of our ancestors,” he declared, emphasizing the critical role Africans have played in shaping global history.

More than a rebuttal, Traoré’s statement served as a powerful call to honor Africa’s heritage while asserting its sovereignty and dignity in the face of foreign interference. He also urged Africans to unite and take ownership of their future.

Stressing the importance of pan-African solidarity, the President called on the continent’s people to work collectively toward a prosperous and independent future.

He underscored the urgency of breaking free from external dependence and harnessing Africa’s resources and talents to drive sustainable development.

This message, infused with hope and determination, reflects a bold vision for Africa’s autonomy and empowerment, urging its people to reclaim their destiny and build a thriving, self-reliant continent.
