Burkina Faso: The Head of State honours the public media during a visit to RTB and hands over equipment worth more than 130 million CFA francs to support journalists

In a surprise visit to the Radiodiffusion Télévision du Burkina (Broadcast Television of Burkina)  RTB on Friday, December 15, 2023, the Transition President and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, commended public media for their daily commitment and initiatives supporting the implementation of Transition missions. The visit included the presence of public media officials.

The purpose of the visit was to applaud the dedication of public media and their efforts in furthering the goals of the Transition.

Despite limited resources, Captain Ibrahim Traoré expressed admiration for the remarkable work carried out by the personnel of Sidwaya Editions and RTB.

«Throughout this challenging period, we have witnessed the perseverance of Sidwaya Editions and RTB. Despite limited means, you are doing exceptional work. It was important for me to come and encourage and congratulate you», highlighted the Transition President.

He encouraged all media outlets to contribute to boosting the forces engaged on various fronts.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré acknowledged the involvement of other media outlets in supporting the Transition and the Defense and Security Forces, expressing satisfaction and reaffirming the government’s support for all media.

With a focus on improving the working conditions of journalists, the Head of State presented equipment valued at over 130 million CFA francs, including editing tables, cameras, sound recording and processing equipment, computers, and printers.
