Copa America 2024: Brazil braces for Neymar’s absence in the United States

The prospect of the upcoming Copa America in the United States looks bleak for Brazil, as it appears they will have to do without Neymar. The Brazilian star, plagued by a lingering injury for several weeks, will be absent from the event, leaving a void in the national team.

As the 48th edition of the Copa America looms from June 20 to July 16, 2024, Brazil will have to face the challenge without their standout player.

Originally scheduled to take place in Ecuador, the competition was moved to the United States due to Ecuador’s withdrawal.

Nevertheless, Brazil, determined to shine in the tournament, will have to cope without Neymar, who will miss crucial matchups in their group against Colombia, Paraguay, and the winner of the duel between Honduras and Costa Rica.

Neymar’s injury, sustained during the last international break, prompted efforts from Al Hilal to recover their talented player.

However, hopes are slim, as indicated by Brazilian doctor Lasmar, who stated on Rádio 98, «It’s too early, there’s no point in rushing the recovery stages. We hope he’ll be ready to return at the beginning of the European season in 2024, which is in August».

This period of unavailability seriously jeopardizes the participation of the former PSG player.

Despite this notable absence, Brazil will have to draw upon its resources to overcome this challenge in the prestigious continental competition.
