Nasser Al-Khelaïfi responds to Lionel Messi: Loyalty and Respect beyond departure

The President of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, recently spoke out about Lionel Messi’s comments after his departure from the club in the summer of 2021. In an interview with RMC Sport, Al-Khelaïfi shared his perspective on the behavior of the former iconic PSG forward.

«I have a lot of respect for him, but if someone wants to speak negatively about Paris Saint-Germain after leaving the club, it’s not appropriate. It’s not a matter of respect… He’s not a bad guy, but I don’t appreciate that. For me, you speak when you’re here, not when you’re gone. That’s not our way of doing things», said Al-Khelaïfi during the “Rothen s’enflamme” show.

After joining PSG in the summer of 2021 from FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi spent two seasons with the Parisian club before heading to Inter Miami.

However, his critical comments about PSG sparked mixed reactions. While some fans were disappointed by his statements, others believed Messi had the right to express his opinion.

The PSG president made it clear that, despite his respect for Messi as an exceptional player, negative comments after departure are not in line with the club’s philosophy.

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s statements reflect PSG’s firm stance on loyalty and respect toward the club, even after the departure of such an iconic player like Lionel Messi.
