Cristiano Ronaldo sparks controversy with alleged provocative gesture in Riyadh Season Cup Final

In the Riyadh Season Cup final between Al Nassr and Al Hilal, Al Hilal emerged victorious with a 2-0 win, securing the trophy. However, the match stirred controversy, particularly involving Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star, playing for Al Nassr, appeared visibly irritated during and after the game.

One source of irritation for Ronaldo was the continuous chants from Al Hilal supporters shouting «Messi, Messi, Messi», referencing his longtime football rival Lionel Messi.

This, coupled with Al Nassr’s defeat, seemed to have fueled Ronaldo’s frustration.

Reports from RMC Sport indicate that, after the match, a supporter provocatively threw an Al Hilal jersey towards Ronaldo.

Instead of dismissing the taunt, Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly seized the jersey, rubbed it between his legs, and then discarded it on the ground.

This gesture has generated negative reactions in Saudi Arabia, as such actions are considered disrespectful.

It remains to be seen how this incident will be officially addressed by the football authorities and if there will be any consequences for Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League.

The incident adds another layer of controversy to Ronaldo’s time in Saudi Arabia, where he has already faced scrutiny for various reasons since joining Al Nassr.
