Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism: Fighters continue to offer terrorists dark and desolate days

The relentless pursuit and punishment of criminals by Burkina Faso’s armed forces persist unabated, particularly in the Boucle du Mouhoun region. The latest blow to these wrongdoers came through the effective and strategic operations of the 10th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR), as they executed an air-land mission to reclaim territory from these threats.

In a fierce battle, the 10th BIR, in collaboration with air support, successfully thwarted the criminal activities of these individuals who were attempting to ambush the advancing forces in the Mouhoun loop on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

The result was a significant setback for the criminals, leading to the neutralization of several terrorists and the dismantling of their hideout.

Critical to the success of this operation was the proactive intelligence work conducted by Burkina Faso’s intelligence services.

Over the course of several days, they discreetly monitored the movements of these criminals, providing crucial alerts that enabled the armed forces to strike effectively.

Despite attempts by the surviving criminals to evade capture, the ground sweeps conducted by the soldiers of the 10th BIR ensured the recovery of any usable equipment.

The armed forces, driven by courage and determination, continue their operations with the ultimate goal of completely liberating Burkina Faso from the grip of terrorist groups.

The unwavering support and solidarity of fellow citizens only serve to strengthen their resolve in fulfilling their vital defense and security mission.
