Controversy surrounds Kylian Mbappé’s absence as PSG triumphs without him: Adil Rami criticizes coach’s decision

Kylian Mbappé, despite uncertainties about his future, has recently found himself at the center of attention due to his situation with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). In the 24th round of Ligue 1, PSG faced Monaco in a significant clash between the first and third teams in the league standings. The match was characterized by intensity, with each team dominating one half. Notably, Kylian Mbappé was absent from the game despite his usual star role.

In the first half, Monaco dominated the field, but in the second half, PSG displayed a better performance and secured control, notably without their star forward Mbappé.

PSG coach Luis Enrique made the decision to exclude Mbappé from the game, substituting him with Randal Kolo Muani, who, however, failed to make a significant impact.

Luis Enrique justified Mbappé’s absence as a normal decision, possibly indicating preparations for the post-Mbappé era, as the 25-year-old player is expected to leave at the end of the season.

This move, however, has not been well-received by former French international and Mbappé’s ex-teammate Adil Rami.

Speaking on Prime Video, Rami expressed his disagreement with Enrique’s decision, stating, «I like Luis Enrique a lot, but I will never understand him».

He defended Mbappé, emphasizing that there is nothing to reproach in the player’s attitude and that he does not deserve the treatment he is currently receiving.

Rami described Mbappé as a competitive player who wants to participate in every game, questioning the club’s decision as not very classy.

He criticized PSG, considering Mbappé one of the best players globally, and found the situation incoherent, expressing concern about the potential negative impact on PSG’s performance in the upcoming Champions League.
