Nigerian Breweries faces third beer Price hike within a year due to soaring production costs

Nigerian Breweries has announced an upcoming increase in beer prices due to escalating production costs, marking the third hike in less than a year. The adjustments, scheduled to take effect this Friday, come as a result of the brewery grappling with a net loss of 106 billion naira ($66 million) last year.

The devaluation of the local currency, the naira, has substantially raised the expenses associated with importing essential ingredients.

As Nigeria contends with its most severe economic crisis in recent memory, various sectors, including local manufacturers, have responded by raising prices.

The scarcity of foreign currency for raw material imports and unreliable power supply are identified as primary factors contributing to the rising production costs across the country.

Widespread increases in food and transportation expenses have further plunged many into poverty.
