In Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s men neutralise several terrorists on several fronts

Under President Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership, Burkina Faso has intensified its relentless fight against terrorism. This weekend of March 16, 2024, the Combating Forces successfully conducted operations in the Central-North and East regions, neutralizing several terrorists, recovering equipment, and consolidating peace in certain localities, according to security sources from the Burkina Information Agency (AIB).

After decisive operations on March 15, 2024, in Kossouka, where several terrorists were eliminated, hostile forces persisted in their attacks against peaceful citizens.

Despite attempts by survivor groups to counter-attack, security forces reacted quickly and effectively. Aerial strikes played a crucial role in halting the assailants before they could launch new attacks, both in Kossouka and Silmangue.

In Tarpako, in the Yalgo area, forces identified and engaged a group of terrorists as early as March 15, ready to attack.

Well-coordinated aerial strikes decimated a large number of assailants, limiting their potential damage.

Operations continued successfully on March 17, with an offensive by the 5th Rapid Intervention Battalion against criminals in Natiaboini, in the East of the country.

A major discovery was made: a significant terrorist base was located. A rapid response commando eliminated the terrorists after intense combat.

The base was secured, weapons seized, and installations destroyed before forces left the site.

These successes demonstrate Burkina Faso’s firm commitment under President Ibrahim Traoré to eradicate terrorism and ensure the safety of its citizens.

Security forces remain vigilant against any future threats to the country’s peace and stability.
