Togo: The Togolese government is committed to improving fish production under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé

In a proactive move aimed at energizing the fisheries sector, the Togolese government, led by President Faure Gnassingbé through the Ministry of Agriculture, has initiated an ambitious action plan for the development of the fishery industry. This plan marks a pivotal step towards achieving a more robust fish production by 2028.

With a total investment of 20.04 billion FCFA, this strategic program aims to support and empower key stakeholders in the industry to overcome challenges hindering its growth.

The primary objective is to significantly enhance the conditions for fish production, processing, and marketing within the country.

In the long term, the aspiration is to boost fish production by 25% by 2028, thereby substantially contributing to meeting the nation’s seafood needs.

The action plan revolves around five priority areas, each representing a cornerstone in achieving the set objectives.

These areas include enhancing the productive capacities of the industry, improving the technical and organizational skills of stakeholders, promoting the value of local fishery products, optimizing governance within the sub-sector, and strengthening monitoring and evaluation throughout the value chain.

This initiative underscores the Togolese government’s resolute commitment to promoting economic development and enhancing food security through innovative and targeted strategies.

Under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, Togo is firmly committed to a sustainable and prosperous fishery production, which will benefit all Togolese citizens.
