Lomé’s Gnassingbé Eyadema International Airport sets record passenger traffic in 2023
Lomé, Togo – The Gnassingbé Eyadema International Airport (AIGE) in Lomé recorded a historic milestone in 2023, with passenger traffic soaring to 1.4 million. This figure marks a significant 52% increase from the 916,000 passengers in 2019, indicating a remarkable upward trend for the nation.
This growth is a positive indicator for Togo, bringing it closer to its ambitious target of 1.5 million passengers by 2025.
The recent data release by the Presidency of the Republic underscores the ongoing efforts to invigorate the Togolese aviation sector.
The airport now serves 41 destinations, enhancing its status as a regional air hub.
This expansion has positioned AIGE as a key player in the regional aviation landscape, contributing to the country’s economic integration and global connectivity.
To sustain this momentum, Togo will need to continue investing in its infrastructure, further diversify its destinations, and strengthen partnerships with international airlines.
These steps are crucial for maintaining the upward trajectory and achieving, or even surpassing, the 2025 target.
The record passenger traffic achieved by Gnassingbé Eyadema International Airport in 2023 is a testament to the dedicated efforts of Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé.
Through a well-defined strategy of expanding air routes and improving infrastructure, Togo is solidifying its position as a key player in regional aviation.
By continuing on this path, the country can look forward to a prosperous future deeply integrated into the global economy.
