AES Confederation/ Floods: Solidarity and unity resonate in the face of difficult times in the region

The leaders of the Confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) remain deeply concerned about the catastrophic floods that have ravaged populations in the Liptako-Gourma region in recent days. Worried about the fate of their respective populations, urgent measures have been taken in each AES memberstate to contain the disaster and minimize the damage.

In addition to commendable individual actions, the leaders have united in expressing their condolences to all the affected people in the region. Through the acting president of the AES Confederation, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, who is also the transitional president of Mali, a message of support, solidarity, and comfort was sent on Saturday to the courageous and resilient people of the three AES countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger).

Advocating for Unity, Solidarity, and the integration of peoples, it was necessary for the zone’s leaders not only to set an example but also to show the people affected by natural disasters their compassion and support. The acting president of the AES Confederation also commended the efforts made by each member state and especially by the population to assist the victims.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the rainy season, the three AES member countries, like others in the sub-region, have experienced deadly floods. This natural disaster has resulted in numerous fatalities, injuries, and significant material damage, according to official reports. In these difficult times, populations are urged to remain vigilant and, above all, to show solidarity with the most vulnerable in order to overcome this ordeal together.
