Orlando Pirates secure Historic CAF Champions League semi-final spot

Orlando Pirates have cemented their place among Africa’s elite, advancing to the CAF Champions League semi-finals after a gritty defensive masterclass against Algeria’s MC Alger. Following a hard-fought 1-0 away victory courtesy of Mohau Nkota’s decisive strike, the Buccaneers held firm in the return leg, securing a goalless draw at Orlando Stadium to progress 1-0 on aggregate.

The South African giants now prepare for a high-stakes clash against Egypt’s Pyramids FC on April 18, 2025, while continental heavyweights Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns face off in the other semi-final.

Pirates’ resilience has reignited hopes of a first Champions League title since 1995, as they stand just two steps away from continental glory.

With tactical discipline and unwavering determination, Jose Riveiro’s men have defied expectations, proving their credentials as genuine contenders. As the semi-finals loom, South Africa holds its breath—can the Pirates conquer Africa once more?
