Sahel: AES prepares to launch a Web TV to counter-attack on the information front

In response to what they perceive as an ongoing information war waged by their critics, the member states of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) are stepping up efforts to control their narrative. During their latest meeting, the leaders of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso made a strategic decision to launch the AES Web TV, a joint Web TV platform, aimed at addressing the communication challenges they face.

 

This new media outlet will serve as a vehicle for promoting the vision, initiatives, and achievements of the AES, while countering disinformation campaigns that could tarnish the alliance’s image.

 

Recognizing the importance of controlling information as a key tool in their fight for regional stability and development, the leaders of these three countries are determined to create a media space that reflects their perspectives.

 

The AES Web TV will function not only as a channel for disseminating official information but also as a platform to showcase the cultures, development projects, and collaborative efforts of its member states.

 

It aims to strengthen the shared identity of the AES nations while providing a more direct and authentic means of informing both the local population and the international community.

 

This initiative underscores the leaders’ commitment to leveraging modern, effective tools to tackle the challenges of the 21st century, where information spreads rapidly and the ability to manage public perception can significantly influence international relations and internal stability.
