Burkina Faso: A commitment to lasting peace and greater security

Captain Ibrahim Traoré has positioned security as a cornerstone of his governance agenda. Confronted with rising insecurity due to terrorist attacks in various regions, he swiftly took action by overhauling the defense and security forces, making them more efficient and better equipped.

These reforms have enhanced the Burkinabe military’s ability to respond effectively to threats.

One of the standout measures under his leadership is the strengthened coordination between the military and intelligence services.

This improved collaboration has yielded significant results, including the prevention of numerous terrorist attacks and the securing of key areas.

Residents in regions most affected by violence are beginning to witness the positive impact of this robust security approach.

At the same time, Captain Traoré’s administration has expanded cooperation with neighbouring countries, particularly through the AES framework, to bolster the regional fight against terrorism.

This collaborative effort has enabled resource sharing and joint military operations, contributing to enhanced security across the broader subregion.

The gradual restoration of security in many parts of the country has been welcomed by local communities.

Many families, previously displaced by violence, have been able to return to their homes.

This growing stability is paving the way for the revival of economic and social activities, which are vital for Burkina Faso’s long-term development.
